Welcome to Katzville (If You’re Brave Enough to Stay)

When I was a kid, I used to walk home at dusk and swear the shadows moved differently in the woods. I’d imagine a figure standing just out of sight, watching, waiting. Was it real? Probably not. But my imagination refused to let it go.
That’s how Katzville was born.
It’s the kind of town where legends cling to every street corner. Ask three neighbors about the same story, and you’ll get three very different answers. Some swear they’ve seen witches on the mountain ridge. Others whisper about a beast that leaves claw marks in the trees. And most people? They just tell their kids not to wander after dark.
But kids are curious. I was. Maybe you were too.

That’s where the Young Pinkertons come in. They’re not superheroes — they’re kids with sharp eyes, quick wit, and the stubborn refusal to believe “nothing’s wrong.”
Alistair can’t resist digging for the truth (even when it gets him in trouble).
Rufus doubts everything, which makes him the perfect skeptic to keep the group honest.
And Charlotte? She has a knack for puzzles that could outsmart most adults.
They bicker, they mess up, they get scared… and that’s what makes them real to me.
Writing them into existence has been both thrilling and terrifying. Thrilling, because I finally get to share the mysteries that have been rattling in my head since I was a kid. Terrifying, because the closer I got to the truth of Katzville, the more I realized — I wanted to stay there.
And maybe, just maybe, you’ll want to stay too.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing little pieces of Katzville with you — the myths, the puzzles, the secrets I tucked into the story. Think of it as your first step into the investigation.
Because once you’ve seen the shadows move… it’s hard to look away.
